The BSS-1 produces hydrogen water at 8000 to 10000ppb. That puts it well above what most countertop generators produce in a single cycle. The tradeoff is volume: 290ml per batch instead of 1.5L.
Whether higher concentration matters depends on what you are trying to achieve. The published research on hydrogen water uses various concentrations across different studies. The most common range studied is 0.5 to 1.6ppm. This bottle sits above that range at 8 to 10ppm when using the 10 minute cycle. The volume being smaller also means you consume the hydrogen before too much dissipation occurs, which is a practical advantage of the portable format.

How to use it
- Fill the 290ml bottle with filtered water, or any drinking water up to 60 degrees - but I don't recommend anything over room temperature
- Select the 5 or 10 minute cycle and start it. The electrolysis process runs and dissolves hydrogen into the water.
- Drink directly from the bottle as soon as the cycle finishes. Opening it to pour into a glass lets hydrogen escape.
- Pre-workout is a popular timing for hydrogen water given the research context around exercise-induced oxidative stress. It also works well first thing in the morning or whenever feels right in your routine.
- Charge via USB when the battery is low. A full charge supports multiple cycles, more with the 5 minute mode.
- Rinse and clean according to the included instructions between uses.

The BSS-1 produces 8000 to 10000ppb (8 to 10ppm). That is significantly higher than the 1000ppb produced by most countertop generators including the hydrogen water jug. The smaller volume means you are getting a more concentrated dose in a single serving rather than a larger diluted volume.
How does the 5 minute vs 10 minute mode differ?
The 5 minute cycle is the standard mode, good for daily use and quicker top-ups. The 10 minute cycle runs the electrolysis longer and produces higher hydrogen concentration per batch, at the cost of more battery and time. Use the 10 minute mode when you want greater concerntration 4-5000pbb, the 5 minute mode when you are in a hurry or conserving battery.
Can I use this with hot water?
It is rated for water up to 60 degrees Celsius. Cold and room temperature water retains dissolved hydrogen better than warm water, so for maximum concentration, use cold water. Very hot water will reduce how much hydrogen stays in solution by the time you drink it.
