💻 DESK & STÅBORD 🇳🇴 YEAR-ROUND JORDING 📐 TWO SIZES

Jordingsmatte for Dagtid — ground yourself while you work, not just while you sleep

Most grounding happens at night. But you spend just as many hours at a desk — often more, during a Norwegian vinter. This mat brings jording to the daytime: under your hands while you type, under your feet at a ståbord, or under your legs on the sofa while you read. Passive, consistent, and requiring nothing from you except bare skin contact.

⚡ Why daytime grounding matters — not just nighttime

There's a common misconception that grounding only matters for sleep. The research doesn't support that narrow view. Free radical accumulation — the process that grounding directly counters — happens continuously throughout the day. Office environments compound this: synthetic flooring, static-generating electronics, dry recirculated air, and prolonged elevation from concrete all mean that modern indoor work is one of the least grounded environments humans have ever lived in.

Extended laptop and screen use generates measurable static charge in the body. Sitting on synthetic chairs on non-conductive floors for 8 hours means eight hours without any electron input. A grounding mat — particularly at a standing desk, where bare feet make direct contact with a conductive surface — adds back the continuous low-level electron flow that the ground outside would naturally provide. For a deeper look at how grounding and light therapy work together, Dominic's article on quantum biology and grounding covers the underlying mechanisms.

🇳🇴 Built for Norwegian indoor life

🌑 Barefoot grounding is only realistic 3 months of the year in Norway

Standing barefoot on grass or soil — the most natural form of jording — is not a practical year-round option in Drammen, Oslo, Bergen, or most of Norway. From September through May, outdoor grounding is cold, wet, and for most people simply doesn't happen. This mat gives you Earth connection regardless of what month it is or what the weather's doing.

💻 Norwegian kontorkultur = long indoor days

Many Norwegians spend 9–10 hours indoors on workdays during mørketid, all of it on insulating floors, in insulating shoes, under LED overhead lighting, surrounded by electronics. The cumulative static charge and free radical load from that environment is real. A mat under your feet at the desk is a direct counter to it — one that requires nothing more than taking off your shoes.

🔗 Pairs with the Harmony collection for a complete routine

Many customers combine this with morning rødlysterapi sessions, PEMF devices, and evening blue light blocking glasses — using the mat during the day to add continuous grounding to an already solid protocol. It works with everything else in the Harmony collection without interference.

  • Yoga, stretching, or floor-based exercise with grounding contact
  • Right choice for standing work or extended floor use

🔬 Key benefits of daytime grounding

🧠 Focus and calm

Balanced energy during screen-heavy work. Many users report reduced afternoon mental fatigue with consistent mat use during desk sessions.

⚡ Static charge reduction

Laptops and monitors generate measurable static charge. Direct contact with a grounded conductive surface drains this charge continuously.

🔥 Oxidative stress

Free radical accumulation during long indoor days is countered by the continuous electron input a grounded mat provides during working hours.

🔗 PEMF compatible

Works alongside PEMF devices and red light sessions — many customers use the mat during morning rødlysterapi panels as part of a combined routine.

How to use your jordingsmatte

  • 1

    Connect to a jordet stikkontakt

Plug the grounding cable into any standard earthed outlet — the earth pin only. Norwegian outlets are fully earthed as standard. No special wiring needed.

  • 2

Position the mat for your setup

Compact: in front of your keyboard, or under your forearms. Large: on the floor under your standing desk, or on the floor in front of your sofa.

  • 3

    Make bare skin contact

Feet, hands, or forearms must touch the mat directly — no socks, no gloves. The non-slip rubber backing keeps the mat in place, so you don't need to think about it.

  • 4

    Continue working normally

Grounding is passive. You don't need to do anything differently — just maintain skin contact with the mat surface while you go about your day.

🛋️ Where to use your mat — daytime scenarios

💻

Desk and laptop work (Compact)

Place the compact mat in front of your keyboard. Rest your forearms or hands on it while typing. You'll naturally maintain contact throughout most of a working session without thinking about it. Works on any home office desk or kontor setup.

🧍

Standing desk — ståbord (Large)

The large mat sits under bare feet at a standing workstation. If you already use a ståbord and remove your shoes at home, this turns a passive habit into continuous jording. No additional effort required once it's in place.

🛋️

Evening sofa time (either size)

Place the mat under your feet while watching TV or reading on the sofa. Pairs well with a sofa grounding throw for upper body coverage. Passive grounding during what would otherwise be completely disconnected leisure time.

🧳

Travel and hotels (Compact)

The compact mat folds flat and fits in a travel bag. Any hotel room with a standard European three-pin outlet has everything you need. Grounding when you're away from home — especially useful during business travel with long conference days on insulating floors.

Dominic Lamb — Home Light Therapy Norway

From Dominic

I use the compact mat at my desk in Drammen, and the large mat under my feet when I'm using my standing rig. Taking off your shoes at home is already normal in Norway — putting a grounding mat under your feet at that point is basically a zero-effort habit once it's there. Most of the time I forget it's plugged in, which is sort of the point. The mat under the desk does mean I need to remember bare feet though — socks completely kill the conductivity, which catches a lot of people out initially.

If you're already using a fitted sheet at night, adding the daytime mat is the obvious next step for filling in the waking hours. Together they cover nearly 24 hours of jording potential — which, given how little natural ground contact most Norwegians get for six months of the year, is not nothing.

❓ Vanlige spørsmål / Common questions

What is a grounding mat and how does it work?

A conductive carbon surface connected to the earth pin of your wall outlet. When bare skin touches it, electrons flow from the Earth through the building's ground wiring and into your body. No current involved — only the Earth's natural electron potential. Same as standing barefoot outside, conducted indoors.

Hvorfor bruke jordingsmatte på dagtid?

Free radical accumulation happens continuously — not just at night. Long indoor working days with no skin-to-ground contact mean hours of oxidative stress building up. A daytime mat adds continuous electron input during work hours, complementing what a grounding sheet does at night.

Which size should I choose?

Compact (25×68cm) if you primarily work seated at a desk or need something for travel — it sits in front of the keyboard for hand and forearm contact. Large (60×90cm) if you use a standing desk or want floor-based foot grounding. For both desk and standing use, some customers buy one of each.

Fungerer jordingsmatte gjennom sokker?

No. Direct bare skin contact is required. Even thin socks reduce conductivity significantly; synthetic materials block it entirely. This is a firm requirement, not a design limitation — bare feet, bare hands, or bare forearms must touch the conductive surface.

Is it safe near a laptop or electronics?

Yes. The mat connects only to the earth pin of the outlet — no current flows through the mat surface. Using it directly under a laptop or on a desk with multiple monitors is normal. Many users find it reduces the static charge that builds up during long laptop sessions.

Kan jeg kombinere jordingsmatte med rødlysterapi?

Yes — completely compatible. Many customers position the mat under their feet during morning rødlysterapi sessions so they're grounding and photobiomodulating simultaneously. Both work through distinct mechanisms; there's no interference.

How do I clean the mat?

Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap — the conductive carbon leatherette surface is not machine washable. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Let it dry completely before use. The mat surface is durable with normal daily use and wiping.

Grounding during the hours you're actually awake

Eight hours at your desk, every weekday, without any jording. This mat changes that — nothing to think about, no routine to maintain, just take off your shoes and keep working.

Safety note: The grounding cable connects to the earth pin only — no current flows through the mat. Consult a doctor before use if you have an implanted electrical device. Not a medical device — not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Ensure your outlet is properly earthed before use — standard in Norwegian buildings.
