How the wavelengths work on skin
Different wavelengths reach different depths and interact with different tissue structures:
- 460nm blue has photodynamic effects on acne-causing bacteria at the surface. In the Radiant Pro, it now runs alongside NIR — so the bacterial targeting and the inflammatory response are addressed in the same session.
- 590nm yellow is associated with melanin regulation — the mechanism behind its use for dark spots and uneven skin tone. It works best in isolation for melasma, which is why the Radiant Balance's isolated mode matters.
- 630nm and 633nm red penetrates approximately 8 to 10mm and stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen.
- 830nm NIR reaches the upper dermis, acting on mitochondrial function and reducing inflammatory markers.

The 1072nm addition is what makes the Radiant Pro worth paying attention to. Most LED masks on the market max out at 830nm or 850nm NIR — which is good, but it does not reach the sub-dermal layers where the real structural ageing happens. The simultaneous architecture means you cannot isolate wavelengths, which is the honest trade-off. For anyone whose main concern is anti-ageing and general skin health, that trade is a non-issue. If you have melasma, go for the Radiant Balance instead — isolated yellow without NIR is the right protocol for that condition. And if you just want something straightforward at a lower price point while it is available, the Original quad-chip mask does exactly what it says.

Why does NIR running alongside blue light matter?
Blue light (460nm) targets acne-causing bacteria at the surface. Acne is also an inflammatory condition — the redness, swelling and post-acne marks are inflammatory responses. When NIR runs simultaneously, it addresses the inflammation in deeper tissue at the same time as the bacterial targeting is happening at the surface. In masks with separate modes, you would need two separate sessions to achieve the same effect.
How quickly will I see results?
Skin texture and glow are usually the first changes people notice, within 2 to 4 weeks of consistent use (3 to 5 sessions per week). Visible changes to fine lines and wrinkles typically follow at 6 to 8 weeks. Acne can respond faster — often within 2 to 3 weeks. Consistency matters far more than session length.
