Wireless Flicker-Free Night Lamp — Red and Amber Light, No Blue Light
(Norsk: Trådløs, flimmerfri nattlampe med rødt og gult lys — uten blålys)
Cordless, battery-powered, three light modes, zero flicker. Built for kids' rooms and nighttime nursing alike — gentle enough for the whole family to use without the melatonin disruption of a standard white nightlight.
Why light colour matters at night
Children's circadian systems are especially sensitive to light, and so is a parent's during a night feed. Standard white nightlights contain blue wavelengths that activate melanopsin in the retina — the same signal that tells the brain it's daytime and suppresses melatonin. A white-light check-in or feed in the small hours can disrupt that process for both of you.
Red and amber wavelengths have minimal effect on melanopsin. The light is visible, comfortable, and warm, but it doesn't carry a daytime signal — so nobody gets fully woken up just to change a nappy.
Flicker-free, and built for the whole family
Most affordable night lights dim by rapidly switching the LED on and off (PWM) — invisible to the eye but a real source of eye strain and headaches for sensitive people, migraine-prone adults included. This lamp dims on stable current instead, with zero flicker at any brightness setting.
That makes it more than a kids' product: it's equally at home as a low-glare reading light, a hallway light for anyone who doesn't want to trip a bright overhead switch at 2am, or a bedside light for someone recovering from a migraine. The kids' room is where it earns its keep most, but it isn't only for kids.
Perfect for
Bedtime stories
Amber mode gives enough warm light to read by without pushing a daytime signal into a settling child's eyes.
Nighttime feeds and nursing
Red mode at the dimmest setting for nappy changes and feeds — enough to see, not enough to fully wake either of you.
All-night comfort
The dimmest red setting runs for hours. Children who wake in the night get reassurance without triggering wakefulness.
Travel
Compact and USB-C rechargeable. Hotels, hytter, visiting family — familiar light wherever you go.
Key features
- 1000mAh rechargeable battery — up to 18 hours at lower brightness settings; USB-C charging
- Flicker-free operation — stable current, not PWM dimming, at every brightness level
- Three light modes — red (maximum melatonin protection), amber (warmer, comfortable), dual (both combined)
- Touch control — tap to cycle modes, hold to dim; simple enough for children to use independently
- Stepless dimming — smooth brightness adjustment from barely-on to comfortable reading level
- Child-safe materials — ABS plastic and silicone, no sharp edges, stays cool to touch
- Fully cordless — no cable during use, no trip hazard by the bed
- Portable — compact and lightweight, takes up minimal space on any bedside
How families use it
Bedtime settling
Amber mode during the bedtime routine and stories — warm enough to see by, won't push back sleep onset.
All-night glow
Red mode at the dimmest level. Children who want a light on overnight get comfort without a full circadian disruption.
Nighttime checks
Pick it up and carry it in. No overhead light, no sudden brightness, minimal disturbance to a sleeping child.
Child's own control
From around 3 years, children can learn to tap the mode they prefer. Independence at bedtime reduces parental visits.
Norwegian winters — why this matters more here
Long dark winters mean children spend most of the day and evening indoors, with their developing circadian systems navigating months without consistent natural daylight cues. Bedroom lighting does much of the signalling work that sunlight would normally handle, which is exactly why the colour of the bedside lamp matters as much as whether it's on at all. Complete the family's sleep environment
- Room overhead: RedGlow or AmberEase E27 bulb in the ceiling lamp — covers the whole room before bed
- Hallway: Motion sensor amber night light — so nighttime corridor visits don't need any other light
- Older kids on screens: AfterDark Kids glasses for screen time after 6pm
- Whole-family bundle: Family Sleep Lighting Pack — covers every room at once

From Dominic
This one gets bought for the kids and then quietly taken over by the parents. Nursing mums tell me it's the one they reach for at 3am instead of the phone torch, and a few customers with migraines have picked it up purely for the flicker-free bit. It's a simple product, but it earns its place on a lot of bedside tables.

Frequently asked questions
Why red and amber instead of white light?
White light contains blue wavelengths that suppress melatonin. Red and amber don't. A white nightlight works against sleep; a red or amber one provides comfort without disrupting the circadian signal.
What makes this lamp flicker-free, and why does that matter?
The LEDs run on stable current with no PWM flicker at any brightness level. Flicker below the threshold of conscious perception can still cause eye strain or headaches in sensitive people, including some children and migraine-prone adults. This lamp removes that variable entirely.
How long does the battery last?
Up to 18 hours at lower brightness on a full charge. At the dimmest all-night setting, it can last multiple nights before needing a recharge via USB-C.
Is it safe for young children to handle?
Yes. ABS plastic and silicone, no sharp edges, cool to touch, fully cordless. Touch control is simple enough for children to use independently.
Can I leave it on all night?
Yes. LED produces minimal heat at these output levels. Safe for all-night use.
What is the difference between the red and amber modes?
Red is the higher-protection option for overnight use. Amber is slightly warmer and more comfortable for the active part of the bedtime routine, like reading. Many families use amber for settling and red for sleeping.
Will it work for newborns and nighttime nursing?
Yes. The dimmest setting provides enough light for feeds and nappy changes without fully waking baby, and because it produces no blue light it doesn't interfere with the parent's own melatonin either. It grows with the child from newborn through to independent use.
Is it portable for travel?
Yes. Compact, lightweight, cordless, USB-C rechargeable — it works wherever you need it, from hotels to hytter to visiting family.
Passer denne lampen for ammende mødre om natten?
Yes, this is one of the main use cases. The red and amber modes give enough light to nurse or check on a baby without the blue light that disrupts the mother's own melatonin. Many parents leave it running on the dimmest red setting through the night rather than switching it on and off.
Hva er en flimmerfri lampe, og hvorfor er det viktig?
A flicker-free lamp runs on stable current instead of rapid on-off pulsing (PWM), which many LED lights use to dim. Flicker can be invisible to the eye but still contribute to eye strain, headaches, or general unease, particularly in children and migraine-prone adults. This lamp avoids that entirely.
Er nattlampen trygg for babyer og småbarn?
Yes. It is built from ABS plastic and silicone with no sharp edges, stays cool during use, and runs fully cordless so there is no cable near the crib or bed. Touch control means small children can eventually use it themselves.
Kan lampen brukes helt uten strøm i stikkontakten?
Yes. It runs on a 1000mAh rechargeable battery for up to 18 hours per charge and only needs a USB-C cable occasionally to top up. No cord is needed during normal use.
