🛋️ DESIGNET FOR SOFABRUK 🧵 95% COTTON · 5% SILVER 🔒 NON-SLIP BACKING

Quilted Grounding Throw — jording on the sofa, where most evenings actually happen

Grounding at night covers your sleep. But the hours before bed — on the sofa, reading, watching TV, winding down — are just as long, and most sofas are upholstered in polyester or synthetic leather that actively blocks Earth connection. This quilted throw solves that gap: 95% cotton and 5% silver threading, with rubber grip pads on the back so it stays put even when you move around. Dominic has one on his own sofa.

🛋️ Why the sofa is a grounding problem worth solving

Most people spend 2–4 hours on a sofa every evening. That's 2–4 hours of potential jording time that, for most people in most homes, produces zero Earth connection — because polyester, vinyl, and synthetic leather are complete insulators. You're sitting elevated, on synthetic material, in an insulated building, wearing shoes or socks. The accumulated free radical load from a day of this isn't trivial.

A cotton-and-silver throw changes that. Place it on the sofa seat, sit on it with bare skin contact, connect the cord to your wall's ground pin, and the sofa becomes a grounding surface. The silver threading conducts the Earth's electrons through the fabric to your skin; the cotton makes it comfortable to sit on for extended periods. It's the difference between an evening where your body is still accumulating oxidative debt, and one where it's quietly paying it back.

🔬 Why natural fibres with silver conduct better than synthetic upholstery

Electron transfer requires a conductive pathway from the Earth to your skin. Synthetic materials like polyester, PVC, and vinyl are electrical insulators — electrons simply cannot move through them. Cotton is a natural fibre with some inherent conductivity, but on its own it's not enough for reliable grounding. The silver threading in this throw provides the high-conductivity element: silver is one of the most electrically conductive materials in existence, and woven through cotton at 5% concentration it creates a fabric that electrons move through freely.

The result is a surface that conducts Earth's charge to your skin more effectively than any synthetic alternative — and one that's genuinely comfortable to sit on, unlike a silicone or carbon mat. For a deeper look at how grounding fits into a broader health protocol, Dominic's article on grounding and mitochondrial health is worth reading.

🇳🇴 Why this matters for Norwegian sofa life in particular

🌑 Mørketid means long evenings indoors

From October through February, Norwegian evenings start at 3–4pm. That's four to five hours of indoor leisure time before most people sleep — time that, for the majority, involves sitting on a synthetic sofa under LED lighting with no grounding contact at all. A throw that converts that time into jording time is a meaningful change to total daily electron exposure.

🏠 Norwegian sofas are almost universally synthetic

Walk into any norsk møbelbutikk and the overwhelming majority of sofas are upholstered in microfibre, polyester, faux leather, or similar synthetic materials. These are practical and durable — but they're electrical insulators. The grounding throw is a direct answer to that: a natural-fibre, silver-threaded overlay that turns any sofa into a conductive surface.

🟠 Pairs with AfterDark glasses for a complete evening protocol

If you already use AfterDark blålysbriller in the evening to protect melatonin, adding the grounding throw means your sofa time is addressing two separate biological needs simultaneously — light protection and Earth connection. Neither interferes with the other, and together they do more for sleep preparation than either does alone.

Key features

🧵 95% cotton, 5% silver

Comfortable enough for prolonged contact, conductive enough for consistent jording. Natural fibre that feels good against bare skin — not a rubber mat or technical surface.

🔒 Rubber grip backing

Small rubber pads on the back prevent the throw from sliding on upholstery during normal sofa movement. Keeps the conductive side in contact with you without readjusting.

📐 150 × 200cm

Large enough to sit on and drape over your legs simultaneously — full lower-body contact. Also covers a single bed as a mattress topper if you need it in that role.

🌡️ Quilted for warmth

The quilted construction provides light insulation — comfortable for use in a cool Norwegian living room without needing an additional blanket on top.

🌿 Natural over synthetic

Sitting on cotton and silver instead of polyester or vinyl reduces skin contact with synthetic materials — relevant for anyone sensitive to synthetic fabrics or static charge buildup.

🔄 Dual-use

Primary design is for sofa use. Also works as a mattress topper for single beds, or as a general grounding blanket — fold it, drape it, or lay it flat as needed.

🛋️ Who this is designed for

📺

Evening TV and sofa time

The primary use case. Sit on the throw, bare skin contact with the upper side, plugged into the wall. The rubber backing keeps it in place through a full film or TV session without sliding off the cushion.

📖

Reading and relaxing

Quieter sofa activities where you're sitting still for 30–60 minutes at a time. The throw converts passive downtime into grounding time without requiring anything active from you.

💻

Working from the sofa or couch

If you do evening work on a laptop from the sofa, the throw under you means that session adds Earth connection rather than just more screen exposure.

👨👩👧

Family and children

Natural cotton is safe for children's skin. The throw is wide enough for two people to sit on simultaneously. Natural fibres also mean less synthetic contact for skin-sensitive children.

🛏️

Secondary use — mattress topper

At 150×200cm it covers a single mattress as a grounding topper, or folds across a double. Functions the same as the fitted sheet in this role — bare skin contact, connected to the ground pin.

🔧 Setting up your grounding throw on the sofa

  1. Lay the throw on your sofa seat cushion with the conductive silver side facing up — the rubber grip pads face down onto the upholstery
  2. Connect the snap cord to the conductive tab on the throw
  3. Plug the cord into the ground pin of a nearby earthed outlet — standard Norwegian stikkontakt
  4. Sit on the throw with bare skin contact — shorts, short sleeves, or bare legs provide contact; socks and trousers reduce it
  5. Drape it over your lap if you want warmth — as long as some bare skin remains in contact with the conductive side, grounding continues

From Dominic — my personal recommendation for sofa use

Honestly, this is the grounding product I'd recommend first to someone who isn't yet using any. Not the sheet, not the mat — the throw. Because everyone spends hours on the sofa every evening, and almost no one is doing anything useful with that time for their health. The throw doesn't interrupt what you're already doing. You just sit on it.

I have mine on my own sofa in Drammen. My sofa is synthetic — most are — and I'd rather not be sitting on polyester for four hours every evening if there's an alternative. The throw is that alternative. It also feels better to sit on than synthetic upholstery, which is a nice side effect. The rubber grips work well; it doesn't slide around the way a regular blanket would.

If you're already using a fitted sheet at night, the throw gives you several hours of additional daytime grounding with essentially zero extra effort. If you're new to jording, this is the place to start.

❓ Vanlige spørsmål / Common questions

Why use a grounding throw on the sofa specifically?

Most sofas are synthetic — polyester, faux leather, vinyl — and completely insulate you from the Earth. A grounding throw creates a conductive pathway through the synthetic upholstery to your skin, turning sofa time into grounding time. The rubber grip backing keeps it in place during normal movement.

Hvorfor er bomull og sølv bedre enn syntetisk sofa?

Synthetic upholstery is an electrical insulator — electrons cannot move through it, so no grounding can happen. Cotton and silver threading create a conductive pathway. The silver conducts the Earth's electrons; the cotton makes it comfortable for prolonged contact. This combination works where any synthetic alternative would fail completely.

How does the rubber backing work?

Small rubber grip pads on the underside of the throw grip the sofa upholstery and prevent the throw from sliding during normal movement. Unlike standard blankets, the throw stays positioned so the conductive side maintains contact with you throughout a session. No readjusting every few minutes.

Trenger man å ha bar hud for å jorde seg gjennom et teppe?

Yes — direct bare skin contact with the silver-threaded surface is required. Thin cotton may allow partial conductivity, but for reliable grounding, bare feet, bare legs, or bare arms resting on the throw surface directly gives the best results. The throw's size means natural skin contact is easy to maintain while sitting normally.

Can I use this as a mattress topper?

Yes. At 150×200cm it covers a single mattress as a topper, or folds across a double. Works the same as the fitted sheet in that role. Dominic personally uses the fitted sheet on the bed and the throw on the sofa, but the throw functions in both roles if needed.

Kombinerer jordingsteppet seg med AfterDark-briller?

Yes — they complement each other well. AfterDark glasses protect melatonin by blocking blue light. The grounding throw addresses oxidative stress and Earth connection during the same sofa hours. Two distinct mechanisms, both working during your evening wind-down, with no interference between them.

How is this different from the fitted sheet or daytime mat?

The fitted sheet is for the bed — overnight passive grounding. The daytime mat is for the desk or ståbord — structured work grounding. The throw is for the sofa — comfortable evening grounding with the warmth and drape of a blanket. Each covers a different part of the day in a different context.

🇳🇴 Norwegian Support

From Dominic in Drammen

Your sofa has been disconnecting you from the Earth every evening. Now it doesn't have to.

Natural cotton and silver threading, rubber-grip backed to stay put on synthetic upholstery, large enough to sit on and drape over yourself. Grounding during the hours you're actually relaxing.

Safety note: The grounding cord connects to the earth pin only — no current flows through the throw. Consult a doctor before use if you have an implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker. Disconnect during thunderstorms. Not a medical device — not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. Ensure your outlet is properly earthed before use — standard in all Norwegian buildings.
